A New Den {Client Work}
Happy New Year all … what a crazy year 2019 was.
It certainly ended on a high note for a client of mine who received a den makeover just in time for family to arrive for the holidays.
I really wish I had a picture of the “before” space, not because it was bad, because it is such a huge transformation.
Previously this room housed the family pool table and a small sitting area, including a highly coveted leather recliner.
Now that their kids are grown and have families of their own, my clients decided it was time to move on from the pool table and create a new den that would accommodate their growing, out-of-town, frequently visiting family.
The wood paneling, leather recliner, draperies and small scale slipcovered chairs were to remain, providing a natural jumping off point. Our goal was to create a comfortable, expanded seating area for family, TV watching and entertaining.
There’s no hiding the fact that this room is long, skinny ( a result of the previous owners removing a wall) and dark, so why not embrace it and really ramp up that cozy factor. Our vision included jewel tones and cozy textures.
Once the new layout was determined, a neutral sofa was purchased and the beautifully patterned rug was installed the room really started to take shape.
Light upholstery, jewel toned accents peppered throughout and warm metal tones create a wonderfully cozy space without feeling overly heavy.
And all just in time for the the holidays.
Rumor has it that everyone enjoyed the new space and it was utilized by the whole family, grandchildren and all … what more could a girl like me ask for? It’s the perfect gift.
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. Looking forward to a happy and healthy 2020!
Until next time,
