The New House
Our due diligence period is almost over, almost all the t's have been crossed and most of the i's dotted - and truthfully - I just couldn't wait anymore, so I'm sharing our new house today.
Here she is, the one that didn't get away. Our little English cottage. Ok, maybe it's not an English cottage, but I kind of think it looks like one, so I'm going with it.
See, check this out. This was our actual little English cottage from when we lived in Wimbledon. Similarities, don't you think? This was the home we brought Tessa home to, were she lived the first year of her life. It holds a special place in our hearts - perhaps that's why our new yellow stucco home in Charlotte spoke to us.
Anyway, moving on...
Our new home features a living room with adjoining den. This will be totally new to me, in our last home we had one big first floor living space. Guess I need to start collecting more furniture...what a shame :)
The kitchen definitely needs some freshening, but it's a big space with an attached breakfast room that opens to the den. And wet bar, can't leave that little gem out!
We are planning on new counters, painted cabinets and new appliances. All of which we are hoping to do before we move in!
One of the best features that I am most excited about is the back staircase that leads to a bonus room with full bath above the attached garage. The current owner is using it as a bedroom, but we have big plans to turn this into the family playroom. This will take the place of our old lower level family room. Finding a house with a basement is pretty tricky in Charlotte, so a separate playroom was high on my list. And, I am loving that cork floor!
The back of the house has a lovely wooden deck, off the den, overlooking the private, mature yard.
This home is clearly in much better condition than our last home, but it does require a bit of TLC to get up to date. And, of course, we are more than happy to be the ones to love it!
until next time,
