Perfect Custom Matboards

It's Monday - on a short week - that's a good thing. Kind of like tackling one of those projects that's been hanging around for awhile.

When Rene over at Cottage and Vine posted an online source for custom matboards I finally had the motivation the tackle the growing stack of frames and items in need of framing.

Here are two of my favorites.
The Bowtie print from the Nod Institute of Art and an original photograph from a local photographer on Sanibel Island, Fl. The Bowtie print is 10"x10", meaning a custom matboard was essential. Custom matboards are not inexpensive. At Michael's, I would have spent on one board what I spent on 5 boards when ordering through wholesalematboards.com
The matboards came quickly, well packed and fit perfectly.

The Bowtie print, unsurprisingly, found it's way into our youngest daughter's room. Her room is our next indoor project -- she's grown out of her crib and is more than ready for a big girl bed. The plans are still evolving for her room so nothing's permanent at the moment, but I'm thinking a big galary wall may be in order. We shall see. For now, just a couple of personalized pieces to add some color and interest in her room.

The Sanibel photograph is actually mounted on a thank you card. Of course, it could have been framed in a much smaller frame, but this photograph means so much to me that I wanted to give it more presence. The matboard certainly helped with that. I haven't found quite the perfect spot for it as of yet, but I've got a couple ideas percolating. Having a hard time putting that first nail hole into the wallpaper :)

Hope you had a great weekend and perhaps tackled your own long-overdue project.

until next time,
