Bittersweet
Well, guys, we made it.
The tour is over, we're back in Charlotte, and this is my last post about our trip.
Cue the sigh of relief!
The last stop on our tour was Cincinnati, my home town. I always love going home - but this trip was different, a bit bittersweet, if you will.
The house I grew up in is officially on the market. We moved to this home when I was just two years old and it's really the only home I've ever known.
Of course, since leaving Cincinnati, I've lived in over 11 homes…funny how that always seems to work.
But, this home will always hold a special place in my heart.
My parents bought the house over 30 years ago and have tirelessly, and lovingly, updated it throughout the years with new/updated bathrooms, new kitchen, an addition, etc. There are so many interesting and unique features to this house that they have maintained, but what really gets me every time I visit are the outdoor spaces.
I mean a raised, walled, stone veranda - yes, please. Can I get one of these in my current house? I wish.
How about the black pool with stone surround and the cute little pool house. My girls think it's just about the coolest thing since sliced bread and literally spent nearly every waking moment in it while we were there. Truth is: I do, too.
Note the pergola below - Now you know where we got the idea for ours.
While I do feel a little bittersweet over potentially letting this house go, honestly, I can't wait to see what the future holds for it. Who will move in and love it as much as we did/do? How will the next family transform it? Only time will tell.
