Shared Spaces

So, I saw this image from HGTV and it has me rethinking my entire home layout.

Don't you just love/hate when that happens?

But seriously, what a great idea to combine an infrequently used guest room with a bonus room. Not only does it work for out of town guests, but it's super cute for sleepover and slumber parties, too! Something about the twin beds just works for me, much more than a fuller size does.

Fortunately, we just so happen to have a set of twin beds that eat up a lot of valuable space in our big girl's room and a queen bed in a super crowded office/guest room that could be swapped and rearranged, making both rooms function better and allowing our guests access to a private bath. Seems like a win-win to me. Now I just need to convince our change averse 7 year old.

In the meantime, I'll be drooling over these inspirational images.

I'd love to know what you think. Especially if you have a similar configuration in your own home. Other than my 7 year old's absolute refusal, I worry that it will be uncomfortable for our guests. Not that we have out of town guests that often, but when we do, we want them to feel comfortable (obviously) and like they have their own private space. Hmmmm...decisions, decisions.
