Return of the Stencil
When I think of powder rooms I think: Statement. Whimsical. Moody. Unexpected.
Basically, go bold or go home. It's a small space, let's play it up.
Like with a really cool paper. Of course, papers require loads of patience and a substantial budget. Neither of those words are on my favorite list. Time to brainstorm. Wall mural or removable papers? ( there are amazing options out there.) Then my husband reminded me that intricate DIY projects are not my strong suit. He's right. Finally, it hit me: the old stand-by....return of the stencil.
Yes, that's right, I stenciled our powder room in Chicago. And it was a nightmare of matching lines and seeping paint that tried even my high tolerance for imperfection. If I was going to tackle this project, I better find a very forgiving pattern that allows for a lot of creative manipulation.

Whimsical - check. Fun - check. Forgiving - check. Budget friendly - check. Quick - semi check.
Let's do this.
Maybe gold on navy wasn't what they imagined when they created this stencil, but it's working for me. I may not be done yet (even though I already hung art on one wall) but I'm loving where this project is going!
More to come.
