An Updated Entry & Dining Room {Client Work}

This post is all about taking a good room and making it great just through accessories.

Layering in accessories to create a lived-in, collected look is one of my all time favorite things to do for clients.

Needless to say, I was delighted to discover that this client’s already beautiful home was just in need of the finishing touches.

Check out some of the before and afters below.

Their home/dining room already had a lot going for it - beautiful moulding and large windows, wonderful farmhouse style table and chairs, and lovely blue hued window treatments - providing the perfect jumping off point for the final layer.

Adding color and texture to create a cozier room was our number one priority.

Playing off the window treatments and the floral upholstered dining chairs, we added linen textured lamps in a similar hue, rustic woven rattan tray, and a combination of decanters and interestingly shaped bottles to the buffet. Now we have an inviting home bar for entertaining.

And of course, the stunning centerpiece by City Stems which features a dough bowl with beautiful patina, filled with moss and candles.

The opposite wall holds their piano and framed music from their wedding day. Simple and sentimental, but devoid of color and character. Leaving the space feeling sterile and cold.

Again, color and texture were needed to liven up the space. Enter another beautifully textured lamp, framed dimensional art to balance the lamp, a couple accessories and suddenly it becomes a welcoming corner anyone would want to explore.

Their framed wedding music is still at the center of attention and feels more prominent in the space when layered with additional accessories.

This side of the room now feels far less sterile and much warmer.

We also tackled their entryway. Obviously cute and functional, it also felt dark and a little lifeless.

We played up the farmhouse feel by adding a burlap shaded textured lamp, a simple scalloped bowl as a catch-all and candle atop an olive wood slab. We also replaced her print with original artwork created by her Mother-In-Law.

Talk about brownie points…MIL’s artwork prominently displayed in your foyer?!?! I kid. We used it because it’s beautiful and went a long way to lighten up the space. The artist was just a perk!

Their dining room and foyer now have a truly cozy feel, setting the tone for their entire home.

All through the power of accessories.

We couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out! And now the client has invited us to complete the finishing touches in their kitchen and den as well. Happy Dance!

Hope everyone stayed safe and healthy during last week’s crazy weather roller coaster ride!

Until Next Time…
