A Powder Room Reveal
Guys, it’s here…the powder room reveal!
Sit back, relax, grab a drink and prepare for picture overload because we LOVE our new powder room and can’t wait for you to love it, too!
In case you need a refresher, check out these posts on our inspiration and progress on this impromptu powder room refresh.
Before we get too far down the rabbit hole, I just want to apologize for these dark and grainy images. It’s super hard to get good pictures in a small room, make it a small dark room and this is what you get.
Please trust me when I tell you that in person, it’s really lovely. Truly. These pictures just don’t do it justice! Guess you’ll have to come see it for yourself.
OK, so here we go, back to the reveal…
First the nerdy designer details I’d like to point out, like the repetition of rectangles found on the walls, toilet and vanity - they make me weirdly happy. And the round mirror, paired with the round light fixture. I mean, these things don’t just happen people. The details make the design.
Other than the big fixtures, most of the smaller details came together WAY faster than anticipated. All thanks to this little piece of art that provided a lot of inspiration! It’s nothing special, an embellished canvas from HomeGoods ( that I’d love to replace with original art at some point), but it provided just the right jumping off point when I needed it most.
Truthfully, I didn’t have much of a plan in mind - I was so focused on playing up the darkness of the space that I really hadn’t made any other decisions.
I was toying with the idea of painting the vanity high gloss navy to tie in with the new moulding, and tried a different more ornate mirror but it distracted from my beloved faucet, I was looking for new hardware … I was literally all over the place. But when inspiration strikes, you just have to go with it.
So, I abandoned the idea of dark on dark and decided on lighter and brighter accents … white, gray, and blush pink (I’m having a real blush moment and I’m not mad about it).
Once those decisions were made, everything fell into place pretty quickly. Really quickly, like in an afternoon.
I found this pretty in pink vintage oushak accent rug.
Added back in the accordion style occasional table (similar here).
Accessorized with some bathroom essentials like tissues and a candle.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this geode (similar here) - just the right amount of sparkle.
You know I just can’t get enough of my animal prints, this zebra dish (similar here) makes the cutest little soap dish. And of course the soap by my favorite little entrepreneur is pretty great, too.
My kids keep asking me what my obsession with naked ladies is all about…I don’t have a good answer. I just love a figure study, and what better place to hang one than in a bathroom. It just makes sense, really.
This is an original by local artist, Christina Dowdy - pretty excited about it!
There ya have it - our little jewel box of a powder room. A completely impromptu re-do, designed on the fly. And we couldn’t love it more.
I’ve included a source list below, including some of the accessories which can be found in my online shop.
