Progression of a Living Room

We recently pulled the trigger on a pair of new chairs for our living room, which got me thinking about all the changes we've made in this space in the 3 years we've lived here. Come on a walk down memory lane with me....

Here we are in the beginning with a sisal rug, the infamous dumpster dive coral couch and a pair of blue floral chairs from Pier 1.

We tried a lot of different rugs over the years and finally settled on a muted oushak-inspired rug in tones of green, cream and coral. We also replaced the couch with one of a similar tone but more formal style. Both were found locally at re-sale/vintage shops.

We replaced the coffee table with a cocktail ottoman that I received from a client in exchange for a design consult. Now that was an unexpected but wonderful meeting!

The final step in the progression (thus far) were the new chairs. I'm not going to lie, this was a big step for me. I tried a couple of less expensive/vintage options, but in the end I had to go with what I really loved and pay the price. I'm so glad I did, because I truly love them - the fabric is fresh and modern, the colors work wonderfully with the existing furnishings and they swivel! What more can a girl ask for...

A couple of additional wall hangings relocated from the powder room, pillows from the den and a new tray on the ottoman round out the transformation. Eventually we'll be on the look out for different end tables and lamps, but these things come with time. It's a work in progress after all.

So fun  looking back through the progression of this space! Thanks for coming along.

More to come...
