Recent Projects

I'm back today sharing more behind the scene projects for several new clients. I hope you enjoy this little peak into my working life away from the blog.

Lately, I've been lucky to take on several "from scratch" projects. This particular space is the front room of a beautiful Victorian home here in Charlotte, with a large picture window opposite an original fireplace. I loved the idea of 4 chairs centered around an oversize ottoman, but it's not all about me...

So when the clients said they wanted more seating, we decided on an alternative layout featuring two loveseats and two chairs. The walls have been painted, the rug has been placed and furniture is on order.

Now that the weather is finally starting to cool off libraries and dens, like this one, are getting more attention. This den has a beautiful fireplace, a wall of built in bookshelves, an upright piano and a comfy brown velvet couch to work with. We're playing up the cozy factor by reupholstering an oversized chair in on-trend plaid, adding lots of natural textures and a shot of animal print as well.

The final project I'm sharing today is another "from scratch" family room space with a beautiful fireplace flanked by french doors leading to a terrace. The clients had originally asked for a comfy  room with a casual, coastal vibe which led to the above moodboard.

Sadly, after discovering my love affair with stripes wasn't mutual we came up with an alternative plan featuring two 8' long couches and new upholstery for two of their existing club chairs. Several pieces are on order and we're starting to make some serious progress.

I pride myself on offering a very collaborative style of design, so working together to come up with just the right layout and design is all part of the process. I'm excited to see these projects start to come together, hopefully in time for the holidays!

More progress reports to come!
