A Fall Coffee Table Moment

Well, that was a Halloween to remember! We had a massive storm roll through that cut our trick or treating short, took out our power and left us all soaked to the bone. And to top it off, our little one was up all night with an upset tummy. Needless to say, I’m super happy that Halloween is behind us and ready to focus on the rest of Fall.

To kick off the remaining Fall season, I created a new coffee table moment to celebrate!

The thing about coffee tables is they have to look good from every angle - I love playing with textures, finishes, and adding different layers to curate a really collected and interesting look, no matter your viewing advantage. This tabletop certainly demonstrates that!

Come take a look and I’ll show you how it came together …

I always like to start with something fresh - whether it’s a plant or a fresh cut arrangement.

I’ve had this arrangement on my coffee table for as long as I can remember. It’s just a grouping of simple houseplants, mostly from Home Depot. If one of them dies, I just pop it out and replace it. Simple.

Sometimes it’s in the middle of the table, sometimes not. For this collection, it found a spot in the corner. It’s a large arrangement and certainly makes a statement, but I didn’t want it to be the star of the show.

It’s all about balance.

I added the antler taper holders with custom colored stick candles, both available in my shop at Cotswold Marketplace, to provide a counterpoint to the large planter.

They play well together and take an equal amount of attention, allowing your eye to keep moving around the table.

I placed one of the candle sticks on a stack of books - I love how it helps promote movement and an even more layered look. And the extra height certainly helps to balance the large arrangement.

The antler taper holders and iron planter combo feel very rustic and Fall to me. Time to add a little glamour to the mix, by way of color and texture.

Enter this round gold and mirrored tray, it’s the perfect compliment to all those rustic textures. Topped with a bronze sputnik style orb, gold Italian lacquered orb candle, gold and white striped zebra dish, matches and pinecone candle snuffer - the glam is layered on thick. (all available in my shop at Cotswold Marketplace, btw)

Yes, I have three candles on the table - as long as they are all unscented, I say it’s ok. Tis’ the season of candlelight. Ya know?!?!

No coffee table is complete without a gorgeous set of coasters. Here, I’ve used a set of four marble and gold rimmed coasters - placed on either side of the table for easy access no matter where you’re seated.

You guessed it - they’re also available from my shop at Cotswold Marketplace!

Catty corner from the stacked books with antler taper holder, more height was needed.

For balance, I added another stack of books and placed a clay vessel on top. This particular vessel is called a flower frog. It can be filled with water and fresh plants can be added - or not. It adds interest, texture and color either way.

And you know I love how the rustic handmade vibe plays so well with the neighboring gold glamour moment.

To play up the Fall theme, I added autumn inspired colored fern stems. Both the fern stems and the flower frog are available thru Cotswold Marketplace (shocker, I know!)

For those of you that follow my Instagram stories, you know my favorite fury design assistant is never far from my side.

Meet, Annie. While she doesn’t always love to model, she’s more of a stalker really, she did settle in long enough for me to snap this cute pic.

Clearly we’re all loving the relaxed vibe of the post Halloween season!

And I’m loving our new Fall coffee table moment. Hope you are, too!

until next time,
