An Obsession with Navy: When Is Enough, Enough?
Still quarantined over here, how about you? Just kidding. I know you are.
After a couple of marginal days last week, I decided the best way for me to get through this is to stay busy. Meaning, I’m tackling lots of projects around the house. Some big, some small, but all enough to help me get through each day. I started by scraping a window that had been begging for it for the last 6 years. Completing that project felt so good, i decided to move on to the kitchen island.
There was always something slightly off about our island. I picked the color to coordinate with the wall color in our den, then picked the granite to go with the paint.. This all happened 6 years ago. It seemed so good in theory, but after it was done, it just didnt hit the mark. We even had the painter check the formula and re-paint because it looked so good in our den., but not so great on the island. Just goes to show…..sample, sample, sample.
Quarantine has given me the perfect opportunity to fix what I considered to be an eyesore in our home. You already know about my obsession with navy, so you won’t be surprised to discover I went with my fave standby, Hale Navy.
Can we just discuss how good it looks with our new kitchen chairs, too. I mean, come on!
As I am sure you know, I recently used Hale Navy in our powder room makeover, too.
And now I’m debating painting our wet bar area the same color.
So my question is: when is enough, enough?
Can you have too much navy?
I have the paint, you know I have the time, and it might be nice to tie these two spaces together.
Thoughts?
Here’s another shot, pulled back a bit, just to show how the two spaces relate.
Same countertop, you’ll notice. Just sayin …
Of course, I went ahead and grabbed a couple inspo images….because, you know, lots of time on my hands.
So, pretty - love the open shelving, mirrored backsplash, mesh fronted lower cabinet and the wallpaper.
Yeah, I pretty much love it all.
The navy and black combo of this wet bar is really interesting. The glass and brass shelving is the real show stopper tho!
Weigh in and help a girl out, I’m afraid my obsession with navy is clouding my judgement.
Should I paint or not? If I do, should I paint the interiors too? Should I remove the upper cabinet fronts to create open shelving?
So many question!
So much time…
